4. Songs That Should Be On The Radio By Philly Artists (Vol. 4)

Let’s get right into it.

Nico Bryant

“Superficial Sookie Sookie”

It’s good when R.N.B is F.U.N.

The chorus is a great time. Probably my favorite from his new album, In My World.

And I was admittedly able to relate to this track. may have been “listening more to my ego than my libido” lately. A great reminder to have fun and be present in everything you do in this life.

Solid song to knock a funk off ya.

The Lower Aetna

“Carny Song”

They’ve already got a radio edit for the song. An original vocal and a rambling storyline hooked me in and the fast-paced chorus takes the song into another gear which the guitar bridge to verse two capitalizes on. This is my kind of tune. I love the structure, the ruggedness, the fiddle/violin, and the oo-oOo-OOOOOs

Longer than your typical radio song these days. Love the lyrics on this song. It all fits so well together.

Scarlet Fiorella

“Quintessential Twenties”

I’ve got to imagine that from the first stanza in you’re locked in if you’re a girl in your 20s — not just in story but ooh that melody. The quick monumental bridge sets up the pretty, catchy chorus with a wonderful drop. It sounds like an anthem for girls in their quintessential twenties. Another smash from the R&B Cocktail-Pop Starlet named Scarlet.

JOSHUA MITCHELL

“stardust”

With help from Shanko, Joshua Mitchell puts out another R&B spectacular. Full of confidence and swagger per usual, Joshua Mitchell encapsulates the audience in the opening verse:

Diamonds on my wrist / they can’t stop watching

From there he takes the extraterrestrial dance party to the chorus and the stars go up!

Might be his best song yet and he’s already got a couple hits, yall.

We’re From Antartica

“Fade Away”

I love a quality indie band with a female lead. It’s a weakness of mine, especially in the summer time. As described We’re from Antarctica’s Spotify bio, it’s good music to make out to. They’re from Easton btw.

Dream by a Dream

“Down (Kyon remix)”

Dance hall remix hit from three guys who typically don’t make this kind of music. I’m not sure it’s fair to say that, considering Manu’s “11pm Groove” and Keyon’s DJ skills, but with what I’ve heard from Ben Seltzer (Ophelia), Manu Gajanan (Paradigm Shift) and the remixer, Kyon (Stardestroyers) … this is somewhat of a departure.

It’s experimental and bouncy. Looking forward to the Dream by Dream album with Ben and Manu.

Moustapha Noumbissi

“layla”

He’s been featured several times in XPN and other local publications and continues to show out on his latest single, “Layla”. It’s a smooth tune. It’s the slow-mo scene in a quality Rom Com movie when they finally get back together and the electricity reaches a peak, like the slow build of this song. Moustapha Noumbissi writes great romantic journeys in his tracks.

Lena Fine

“Julian”

Simple country pop without it being Taylor Swifty, gotta love it.

The chorus is stronger than the verses but its sing-a-long ability is second to none!

CAT DADDY

“CATBOY SUMMER”

A strong commitment to fun and ridiculousness.

It’s bold.

It’s provocative.

IT GETS THE PEOPLE GOING.

Bubblegum punk I guess?

What a sexy oxymoron.

Enjoy this danceable lil summer anthem from Philly’s favorite jacked & flamboyant rock n’ roll bassist…

Cat Daddy.
