An Angry Eagles Article For a Team that Could Easily Be 3-1 Going Into The Bye

This Eagles team is FRUSTRATING and I’m terrified things won’t change.

Head to toe, from the players to the coaches to the front office, things NEED to change. And yes, even Howie can get some of this. Dotson and Huff are invisible. Judon was available in his backyard. Devin White isn’t even playing. Fangio and Moore look outmatched consistently.

Early on we’re seeing the same old mistakes that I’d call fixable— unnecessary turnovers, bad play calling, poor decision making, and clock management.

Hurts needs to learn to throw the ball away and/or not force the play. This is something he did very little of in 2022 and very lot of in 2023, so let’s pray for growth, or a return to the 2022 version of his ball security journey.

It was great seeing him adjust to the blitz and beat it in week 1 but now he’s missing reads and open receivers and holding onto the football for an eternity.

That’s got to be playcalling / coaching. If we’re not adjusting the offense to get the ball out faster, that’s on Moore / Sirrianni. If we are and Hurts still isn’t doing it / receivers aren’t getting open, that’s on Hurts. That being said, we could also be getting Saquon the rock earlier and more often. He’s the best skill player on the team by a mile and we have AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert. Great job on that one, Howie. Bechton looks good too.

When that careless play is compounded by unnecessarily aggressive fourth down calls and poor clock management, that takes points off the board. It spins field position and opportunity into the opponent’s favor it’s even more aggravating.

When the coach who’s making shitty calls also sounds like a moron in his presser, it furthers the pestering aggravation.

I’m sure it’s happened before but it’s not often that a fanbase starts calling for the coach’s head after a win and a 2-1 start, and that cry has only grown louder since the dismantling in Tampa.

  • The bad 4th down calls

  • The 60+ field goal attempt giving the Saints a chance to score before half

  • Not addressing the team after the Falcons loss

  • Teenage sideline antics

  • A complete total team no show against the Bucs.

It all adds up to angry WIP callers.

It’s a good thing the defense looked strong against the Saints for Sirrianni and Fangio. Otherwise I think they’d both be fired and we’d be 1-3.

No pass rush, awful tackling, blown coverages.

It’s a new defense. A new offense. But the season continues all the same.

I think what I’m most concerned about is the culture. It’s off.

It’s hard to believe the team believes in Sirrianni. CJGJ refuses to shut up and his play is not backing up the talk. Slay is giggling with Micah Parsons about his team’s piss poor performance. Jalen still sounds like a soundbyte machine more than a leader.

If the defense refuses to press coverage, the line gets no pressure on the quarterback, and they keep missing tackles, we’re going to need to see a change. If the offense continues to struggle with AJ, Devonta, and Lane back, we need to see a change.

We’ll see.

I’ll just say I’m skeptical but that’s only because I’m putting on a strong front to keep the panic contained to a newly formed ulcer in my stomach.
