There’s No Doubt The Bul Bey Is a Top Tier Philly Spitter

I Don’t Have Time to Doubt Myself

Amir Richardson AKA The Bul Bey is putting his stamp on the Philly music scene as an artist and contributor at WHYY and NPR. He recently had his song “Where I’m From” placed on the standout sitcom, Abbott Elementary which was created by West Philly’s own, Quinta Brunson.

In case you didn’t know, Quinta is blowing the fuck up. Abbott won multiple Emmys, she just landed a makeup cover girl commercial and she hosted SNL… and crushed!

man’s a spitter.

He flows through a sing-slong-style hook once in a while, but it’s clear that at the core is a bonafide rapper.

The Bul Bey just released a new music video for “What It Looks Like” that’s one of my favorites this year to date. It’s off the 2022 album, I Don’t Have Time To Doubt Myself, a project done in collaboration with producer, and singer-songwriter, Pat Felliciano (@patfelliciano) that includes features from Shawn Smith and Capili.

“Dave Chappelle” is another good one but this one right here feels like his radio tune.

“Apples, Oranges, Bananas” isn’t just a JAM, it’s jelly on a buttered slice of toast, homes.

From a structure standpoint It fits into the current music landscape but does so with notes of nostalgia. The chanting chorus turns the party up and after he’s finished ripping it to shreds, before Anwar Marshall’s musical mind shines with a chorus from the angels. Sounds like a Spring / Summertime classic to me.

Perfect for this weather, baby ooooh
