SHOOTIN’ w/ Joshua Mitchell — Acrobatic R&B Artist & Stellar Performer

This is quite the episode, folks. We made the commitment to absurdity and honesty and went with it. We hope you enjoy this installment of SHOOTIN’ w/ The City Root, featuring Joshua Mitchell of “Departed for the Evening” and excellent local performance acclaim. It’s been a long time coming and we’re glad it’s finally here for you to witness in all its awkwardly hilarious glory.

In this episode of SHOOTIN’, we talk about VERY RELATABLE THINGS like going into basements with strangers, suing Prince (because time travel), appropriating Hispanic culture, filling a room with awkward sexual tension, and other common topics of conversation.

Quickly, let’s address my stupid outfit. The idea was to poorly mimic Josh … which I clearly did successfully. The problem is that I went HALF DOUCHE. I should’ve went FULL DOUCHE—sunglasses inside but guns outside, more chains, a lit black & mild, combed hair, any other beard trim. You get it.

Okay, enough chatter. It was an honor to commit to a satirical episode of SHOOTIN’ w/ Joshua Mitchell. Enjoy.

MORE about JoshUA Mitchell

Anybody who knows Josh probably won’t be that surprised if his local acclaim evolves into national fame soon.

Joshua Mitchell goes all-in on his music and on the art of performance in a very inspiring and entertaining way. Acrobatic R&B is what I’ll call his music. He’s equally capable of putting out a DJ dance party hit as he is crushing an Amy Winehouse acoustic cover set.

Joshua’s commitment to the craft extends to the promotion of his work, which he does so, on occasion, with comedy—at times sporting a blonde wig and playing a generic white guy; other times singing & dancing, or serenading himself in a wig and dress to “W.A.P.”

You’ll see a few clips of his performances throughout the interview.
