Hot Singles In Your Area — Philly Music Scene

Sizzlin’, sexy, scintillating and other sexy ‘s’ words.

Some of these songs are a little bit older, from early 2024, but all are relatively new and worth your putting in your ear holes.

DOMINY

“TWIST THE KNIFE”

I love this song and this band so much. The slow build and crescendo. The terribly sad chorus that sounds happy and uplifting. It’s very VERY relatable for anyone who may or may not have lingered in sadness a bit longer than we had to.

VELCRO HOMER

“EXCITING WHITES”

The drums and opening rift gets the groove movin’ off Velcro Homer’s new grunge EP, Impur. The increasingly distorted vocals and chorus gives it the feeling of a night out of drinking, slurring words by the end of it. It’s fun and destructive, just like Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship. Go Birds.

snacktime

“TOGETHER”

Between the new Roots Picnic placement and the Jason Kelce late night show at Union Transfer, everybody knows SNACKTIME is on a roll. I got to see their New Years show at Brooklyn Bowl which was incredible. Be sure to catch them live asap!

ASHER ROTH

“GRETA”

(FT. HEATHER GRAY, RADAMIZ)

Count your blessings, baby. A soulful, old-school hip-hop reminder to remember the important things in life. Another tune I’ve been hanging onto in recent months for a number of real-life reasons. This is Asher Roth at his best. The entire album features Heather Gray (a dude), who compliments Ash Roth well. It serves as a nice introduction to his music. Radamiz crushed his verse too, bringing a little extra flavor to the track.

Kur

“CHEATING TO WIN”

DUDE IS ON FIRE. From the opening bar to the end of the song, I’m bouncing in my seat writing this. The little pause after verse one is cocky as hell. Not sure if that’s what he was going for, but it just feels like a breath to let you take it in.

HOT MART

“GUESS I’M JUST LIKE MY MOM”

Ooooh the vibes. Indie-alt-gaze-rock is what they’ve dubbed themselves on Spotify. So good! Just a guy and a gal making groovy music. I didn’t dive to deep into the lyrics or message because I was too busy with my head in the clouds, enjoying the vibes. Put yourself in a good mood with Hot Mart.

MEEK MILL

“WHO DECIDES WAR”

Meek doesn’t get enough credit for his depth. In the opening few bars he equates Gaza to the block wars he experienced growing up in North Philly. It’s not to equate struggles but to connect with the people who are in the middle of this war without deciding to be.
