The Philadelphia Eagles Are A Team of Destiny

They said so about everybody BUT us.

It was the Lions year. Despite a plethora of injuries, they stood their ground and always brought their best against the toughest competition. The road to the Super Bowl was supposed to go through Detroit.

Even with the Chiefs being the #1 seed, this was the year the Bills or Ravens would break through. One of their quarterbacks would surely be MVP and they’d finally take down Kansas City.

The Rams came into the playoffs with a red-hot offense and a resurgent D-Line. They were sleeper picks to come out of the NFC.

After their win against the Lions, the Commanders and their newly minted face of the franchise, the exceptionally talented Jayden Daniels, were dubbed a team of destiny. The doink game-winner in round one was supposed evidence of the football gods’ favoritism.

But when it was all said and done, the Eagles handled whatever was thrown their way.

Rain, sleet, or snow, the Eagles train to go.

Destiny?

They were counted out after a 2-2 start. Even though they should’ve been 3-1, everyone was calling for Sirianni’s head.

The defense looked a mess and the offense lacked identity. Blown coverages, bad turnovers, ugly sideline behavior.

Instead of folding, Nick Sirianni (who is NOT a coach of the year candidate) buzzed the head that everyone wanted on a pike, watered the soil, took accountability, and listened to his players. The result? The flowers grew.

This team has been on a historic run since a timely bye week that we all groaned at when the schedule was released.

They’ve been on a mission of demolition, imposing their will on anyone and everyone that had the misfortune of being in their way. They have been the most physical team on the field in every game.

The offensive line is one of the greatest to do it, only a year after losing their hall-of-fame center and certified leader. The defensive line has lost all of its most productive members from the 2022 Super Bowl team, including Eagles legend BG to injury, and each week they continue to raise the bar. Nolan Smith, Josh Sweat, Jalyx Hunt have all stepped up to the plate. Every sack and pressure over the last three games has come when we needed it most and none more so than game-wrecker Jalen Carter on the last two plays of the Rams game.

Even the way the offseason played out. Our acquisitions fell to us — Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the draft weren’t supposed to be there when the Eagles picked them, but now they’re here and a massive part of our defense. The secondary is absolutely not the same without them. CJGJ ends up back with the Eagles after one season in Detroit. I’m not sure how often that kind of thing happens but it’s not often. Both of our coordinators, Vic Fangio and Kellen Moore, parted ways with their previous teams after solid seasons. They should have never been let go, but they’re here and have revolutionized a struggling defense and a limited offense from the end of last season. Zach Baun was a throwaway special teams player who finds a new way to make a big impact every single game and should be the favorite to win DPOY.

Then, of course, there’s our MVP and former archnemesis, the Penn State product and Pennsylvania-born and bred running back, Saquon Barkley, DESTINED to bleed green… how the hell did we end up with him? Even with the Giants fumbling the situation, he should have been a more sought-after free agent but Howie Roseman brought him in pretty quickly after New York’s blunder.

The Titans should have never traded A.J. Brown, but he’s here. Alongside Devonta Smith, makes for one of the scariest receiving corps in the league.

Say what you will about Jalen, but he wins ball games. Every time he’s doubted, he comes through with a big game, none more so than the Commanders and the Steelers when his critics were loudest.

Showing up when it matters most…

that’s destiny.
